SUMMARY:Freemotion Embroidery Layered Pictures – Follow-on workshop
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a lovely day developing your freemotion embroidery and raw edge applique skills in this follow-on freemotion workshop. This class is aimed at those who have either completed the basic workshop or had a go at freemotion embroidery before.  \n\n\n\nIn this workshop you will have 4 cute designs to choose from with the scope to begin a second design that can be completed at home. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is taught by Caroline Michelle Morgan who is a Textile artist specialising infreemotion embroidery.  \n\n\n\nThroughout the day you will be taught the skills and techniques required to turn your chosen design into a layered picture with cute little 3D elements\, all framed nicely in a rustic mount with coordinating hanging loop. The backing felt and rigid frames are provided however you will need to bring the following materials and equipment with you: \n\n\n\nYou will need to bring the following materials and equipment\, everything apart from the sewing machine feet can be purchased in the shop if needed:  \n\n\n\n Sewing Machine\, please bring your extra wide table for your machine if you have one(helpful but not essential)\, also don’t forget your foot pedal and cable. Freemotion embroidery foot A variety of fabric scraps to produce the raw edge applique artwork Black sewing thread Your usual sewing equipment\, scissors etc Bondaweb For one design you will need approximately 2 metres of fabric tape/ribbon to wrap theframe and 1 metre of coordinating ribbon to make the hanging loop. \n\n\n\nYou can hire a Janome QDC M50 machine for £5 for the day from the Cornish Craft Barn which has an extra wide table and free motion embroidery foot included. Acrylics underneath\, then inks\, texture and collage over them — and the judgement about when a piece is finished\, which is the hard part. \nTuesdays 09:30–12:00 — 3\, 10\, 17 and 24 November\, then 1 and 8 December — at the Cornish Craft Barn. £30 a session\, paid as one series of £180. \n\nSix weekly sessions of two and a half hours\, 8 seats\, beginners and improvers together.\nSeries 1 is not a prerequisite — no acrylics experience needed for the first session.\nColour without mud\, dark-to-light layering\, palette-knife marks; then inks\, texture pastes\, collage and found paper over that ground.\nA short materials list before you start\, and a starter kit at cost if you would rather not buy your own yet.\nA one-page recap each week with the demonstration photos\, and the group’s own album.\nA finished mixed-media piece\, and a last session given to whatever the group most wants to nail.\n\nThe ladder: an Essentials half-day is the taster; a Club Series is where you get properly better at one medium; Studio mornings are the room to keep painting in. \n \nGround we cover across the series: \n\npainting water — sea\, river and harbours\npainting trees\, and the different kinds\nperspective in acrylics\natmospheric landscapes\ncreative portraits\nurban landscapes\nsunlight and shadows\nacrylics solutions and secrets\n\nBook your place →
