SUMMARY:Wheal Treasure Stitch Club - 1st Tuesday Monthly
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to one of our many Cornish Craft Barn Stitch Groups. We run several regular groups that meet once a month.  If you’re interested in joining one everyone is welcome! All levels of skill and project are welcome.  \n\n\n\nThis is an all-day session where you can work on quilting projects on machines or by hand with other quilters who are looking to share ideas and experience and can provide guidance for each other – plus lots of lovely chat\, cake and coffee!  It is not a ‘tutored’ session but a room filled with abundant expertise from which to seek assistance. We can offer short demonstrations or mini projects from time to time if this is something the group decides they want!  \n\n\n\nThe session runs from 10am – 4pm but feel free to attend as much of this as you can to fit in with your other commitments. Lunch can be bought from the cafe with a 10% discount.  Plenty of parking outside and we can give you a hand to get your machines upstairs to the training room if needed.  \n\n\n\nWe have several new Janome quilting sewing machines available to borrow for the day if you need one or find it easier than bringing one in from home. Please book ahead or let us know if you need one so we make sure we have enough available.  \n\n\n\nWe ask for payment quarterly in advance £17.50 per session\, so £52.50 which covers three sessions for you. If you can’t make a session you can use a credit up on any of the other Wheal monthly groups we run\, or carry one session over in any 6 month period. If you’d like to test us out and attend one session before you commit; this is fine too and we charge £20 for this\, or just pay £20 to attend the occasional one off session without any longer commitment.

No stuffy lectures\, no boring theory—just pure\, hands-on creating from the moment you walk through the door. \n\n\n\nWhat you will learn in one afternoon:\n\n\n\n\nThe Cut: Master the rotary cutter and mat safely. Learn how to trim fabric like a professional for perfectly crisp lines.\n\n\n\nThe Measure: Demystify the quarter inch seam and learn the secret math tricks quilters use to make everything line up perfectly.\n\n\n\nThe Block: Piece\, stitch\, and press your very first official quilt block completely from scratch.\n\n\n\n\nBy the time the timer hits zero\, you will have the foundational skills to start you off in the world of quilting plus a gorgeous completed block to take home and show off. \n\n\n\nWhat’s Provided vs. What to Bring\n\n\n\nWe have sewing machines for you to use but if you’re more comfortable bringing your own then please do\, just ensure it’s working\, don’t forget the plug and foot pedal and bring a fully wound bobbin and some good quality cotton thread. Just please let us know if you want to borrow a machine when you book so we can make sure we have enough ready.  \n\n\n\nYou’ll need 4 fat quarters\, ideally with two plains/low volume prints and two contrasting coloured/patterned. Again you can purchase in our shop “Coast and Country crafts and Quilts” which is at the Cornish Craft Barn with 10% discount on the day. You’ll also need some sewing scissors\, pencil and notebook\, pins or clips. If you already have quilting equipment please bring along\, if you don’t we have a limited amount to share and you can purchase in the shop on the day with 10% discount on all purchases\, plus 20% discount if you buy a cutting mat\, rotary cutter and quilting ruler all together. Don’t worry about equipment though the most important thing is to turn up and want to have a go and have some fun!!

Having experimented with various projects over the years\, she now runs Macramé workshops in the local area. She designs tutorials for others to learn the basics of this historic art form\, some of which are available to purchase in the Craft Barn gift shop.

DESCRIPTION:A special Summer holiday workshop that focuses on the fun art of Macramé. \n\n\n\n\n\nSummer Fun – choice of projects \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop Overview \n\n\n\nIn this short workshop we will be making a few small projects including a paperclip / bookmark\, scrap art daisy chains and a bead character.This relaxed and friendly workshop is perfect for complete beginners as well as those looking for their next textile art project.Under the guidance of Lucy\, you’ll learn a few basic knots and techniques of Macramé and go home with a few items.This workshop is suitable for adults but if you’d like to bring children/grandchildren with you then children aged 9+years when accompanied by an adult would be able to manage this lovely craft – so it’s a great activity to enjoy together. \n\n\n\nWhat colour yarn will you choose?What’s included: Step-by-step tuition in a fun and welcoming environment All Macramé yarns and accessories provided Your own unique handmade crafts to take home \n\n\n\nNo previous experience is necessary – absolute beginners are very welcome. Grown from a hobby\, her business specialises in propagating rare trailing semi-succulent plants\, including the popular String of Hearts and Pearls\, and through this\, she first explored making decorative plant hangers from Macramé yarn. Having experimented with various projects over the years\, she now runs Macramé workshops in the local area. She designs tutorials for others to learn the basics of this historic art form\, some of which are available to purchase in the Craft Barn gift shop.
