SUMMARY:Wet Felted Seascape Picture
DESCRIPTION:What You’ll Learn\n\n\n\nCreate your very own unique seascape picture from wool \n\n\n\nThis workshop will give you an introduction to the exciting and colourful world of felting. Wet felting is a technique that uses soap and water to bind the wool fibres together. I will take you through the process of creating your very own felted seascape picture (9×7 inches approx.) inspired by the Cornish coast to take home. \n\n\n\nYou will learn how to lay out the wool fibres to create the base layer. After choosing the colours\, I will introduce you to different ways of using wool to create different effects. Other fibres such as sari silk threads can be added at this stage.  \n\n\n\nYou will then be taken through the felting process using water and soap.  \n\n\n\nFinally\, the piece is rolled until fully felted.  \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided  \n\n\n\nOlive soap is used in the workshop\, but you may bring your own soap if required. Also please bring protective gloves if handling wool is an issue. \n\n\n\nYou will need to bring 2 towels (1 medium and 1 small) and a bag to take your work home as it will need drying at home.  \n\n\n\nWhat’s Included\n\n\n\n\nAll materials and tools\n\n\n\nExpert tuition throughout\n\n\n\nTea\, coffee & homemade cake\n\n\n\nYour finished piece to take home\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop Details\n\n\n\n\nDate: Thursday 6 August 2026\n\n\n\nTime: 10am – 4pm\n\n\n\nSkill Level: Beginner\n\n\n\nPrice: £75 per person\n\n\n\nPlaces: 8 maximum\n\n\n\nTutor: Ceri Hawke – Felt & Away\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSuitable for beginners or someone who wants a re-fresher on how to felt.I studied Art and Design and then took a degree in Action Photography at Truro College. SUMMARY:Wheal Treasure Stitch Club - 1st Tuesday Monthly
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to one of our many Cornish Craft Barn Stitch Groups. We run several regular groups that meet once a month.  If you’re interested in joining one everyone is welcome! All levels of skill and project are welcome. \n\n\n\nThis is an all-day session where you can work on quilting projects on machines or by hand with other quilters who are looking to share ideas and experience and can provide guidance for each other – plus lots of lovely chat\, cake and coffee!  It is not a ‘tutored’ session but a room filled with abundant expertise from which to seek assistance. We can offer short demonstrations or mini projects from time to time if this is something the group decides they want!  \n\n\n\nThe session runs from 10am – 4pm but feel free to attend as much of this as you can to fit in with your other commitments. Lunch can be bought from the cafe with a 10% discount.  Plenty of parking outside and we can give you a hand to get your machines upstairs to the training room if needed.  \n\n\n\nWe have several new Janome quilting sewing machines available to borrow for the day if you need one or find it easier than bringing one in from home. Please book ahead or let us know if you need one so we make sure we have enough available.  \n\n\n\nWe ask for payment quarterly in advance £17.50 per session\, so £52.50 which covers three sessions for you. If you can’t make a session you can use a credit up on any of the other Wheal monthly groups we run\, or carry one session over in any 6 month period. If you’d like to test us out and attend one session before you commit; this is fine too and we charge £20 for this\, or just pay £20 to attend the occasional one off session without any longer commitment.

SUMMARY:Children's Book Workshop — whole day
DESCRIPTION:Ever meant to write and illustrate your own children’s book? This is the day you actually do it — a full\, unhurried day for adults to take a picture-book idea from a blank page towards a real\, finished little book: story\, characters and all. No experience needed; every character starts with a single line. \nWe build personality through gesture and expression — a favourite subject of mine for the depth it offers\, both in the drawing and in the story. We draw on the principles of well-loved children’s authors and illustrators\, browse a carefully curated library of picture books\, and unlock our creativity by playing with unexpected materials. We draw from imagination\, capture the essence of a story\, and build the visuals around a well-crafted narrative — rhyme\, alliteration\, playful repetition\, or even wordless. Let the illustrations tell the story. \nWhat we’ll do\n\nDevelop your characters and find their voices\nShape a plot and storyboard it\nExplore writing techniques and styles\nStart a book dummy for words and pictures\nTry illustration techniques and unusual materials\nDevelop your own style for page spreads\n\nBy the end you’ll have carried a picture-book idea a long way towards a finished little book — with plenty to continue at home. A relaxed small group\, all materials provided\, suitable for complete beginners through to experienced makers. Whether it’s a story for a child in your life\, a long-held idea\, or simply a creative day for yourself — this is your blank page.
