Abstract Botanical Workshop (Acrylics/Inks)

Carla-Jennings Cornish Craft Barn Abstract Botanical Acrylics Inks Course

January 20, 2025 @ 10:00 am 4:00 pm

£55.00 Abstract Botanical Workshop

Join Carla as she teaches her intuitive process of building exciting layers with different mediums.

We will use inks, acrylic, coloured pencils, pens, and stencils to create a beautiful abstract botanical piece full of energy and detail. (Stencils will be provided.)

Experimenting with organic shapes, mark-making, and contrast, this workshop will teach you to enjoy the process more than focus on the outcome.

Equipment Required

  • Thick Watercolour paper – any weight paper is fine so long as it holds a fair amount of paint. I like to use Aquafine Watercolour Paper at 140lb / 300gsm
  • They’re welcome to bring a canvas too if they’d prefer to work on that, but it needs to be a fairly smooth surface.
  • Acrylics – I like Golden High Flow acrylics but I use all sorts of different brands of acrylic & they’re all great.
  • Fine liner Posca pens in black & white are really brilliant!
  • Fine Liner Pens – black Uni-ball fine liners are perfect for finer detail, plus they’re waterproof.
  • Coloured Pencils – I recommend are Polychromos by Faber Castell but whatever you have will be fine.
  • Any stencils you like to work with – if you don’t have any, Carla has lots for you to use – reusable craft stencils
  • Inks – If you don’t have inks, acrylics are fine but the acrylic inks I use are Daler Rowney – I’d recommend Payne’s Grey, Sepia, Raw Sienna, Indigo, Red Earth & Marine Blue (they’re my faves anyway) oh & Black of course. Purple Lake, Cool Grey & Turquoise are also gorgeous, but I’m getting carried away now!!
