Workshop Terms & Conditions

1. About us

The Cornish Craft Barn (“we”, “us”) is run by Cornish Craft Barn Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16271632, registered office The Gwel, Kea Downs Road, Chacewater, Truro TR4 8PA. Workshops take place at the Cornish Craft Barn, The Gwel, Kea Downs Road, near Blackwater, Truro TR4 8PA.

Contact us on 01872 211255, at hello@cornishcraftbarn.com, or in the café or shop.

By booking a workshop or class with us you agree to these terms.

Damian Semonin art workshops: these terms cover workshops booked with Cornish Craft Barn Ltd only. Art workshops run by Damian Semonin are booked and paid for directly with Damian Semonin Art, not with Cornish Craft Barn Ltd. His own booking terms apply to them, and any questions about those bookings should go to him.

2. Booking and payment

  • You can book online at cornishcraftbarn.com/workshops, in the café or shop, or by calling 01872 211255.
  • Full payment is needed at the time of booking to secure your place. Places are first come, first served.
  • Your booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email or receipt from us.
  • Prices include materials unless the listing says otherwise. Where a listing offers extras (for example sewing machine hire), these are shown as separate options.

3. If you need to cancel

Please tell us as soon as possible. Because each workshop runs on a fixed date with limited places, the 14-day cancellation period for online purchases does not apply to workshop bookings.

  • Refunds are not given unless we can resell your place. If we do resell it, we refund your fee less a £10 administration charge per person.
  • Transfers: where there is space, we may be able to move you to another date of the same workshop or a different workshop instead.
  • Sending someone else: you are welcome to give your place to a friend at no charge. Just let us know their name before the workshop.
  • Multi-week courses and series: the fee covers the whole course. We can’t refund or carry over sessions you miss, but please let the tutor know if you can’t come.
  • Late arrival or no-show: if you arrive late we will do our best to help you catch up, but the workshop will finish at the advertised time. No refund is given if you don’t attend.

4. If we cancel or change a workshop

  • Each workshop needs a minimum number of people to run. If it doesn’t reach that number, or we have to cancel for any other reason, we will tell you as soon as we can and offer a full refund or a transfer to another workshop.
  • If a tutor can’t attend, we may arrange another tutor or move the workshop to a new date. If the new date or tutor doesn’t suit you, you can have a full refund.
  • We may make small changes to a workshop’s content or project.
  • If we cancel, we refund the workshop fee in full but are not responsible for other costs such as travel or accommodation.

5. Guest tutors

Some workshops are run by independent guest tutors. Where the listing says so, the Cornish Craft Barn acts as the tutor’s booking agent: it hosts the workshop and takes bookings and payments on the tutor’s behalf. Other workshops are provided by us directly. These terms still apply, and any questions about your booking should come to us. The workshop listing names the tutor.

6. At the workshop

  • Sewing machines: if you bring your own machine or other electrical equipment, it must have been PAT tested (usually covered by your annual machine service). You can hire a machine from us (a fee may be payable) — please book it with your place.
  • Children: adult workshops are for ages 16 and over. Children’s and family workshops show the age range, and whether an adult needs to stay, on each workshop listing.
  • Allergies and health: please tell us when you book about any allergies, health conditions or access needs that may affect you during the workshop.
  • Photography: we sometimes take photos of workshops and finished makes for our website and social media. We’ll always ask first, and you can say no.
  • Your work: what you make is yours to take home. Patterns and handouts are for your own personal use.

7. Health, safety and liability

  • We take reasonable care to keep everyone safe. Please follow any health and safety instructions from the tutor or our staff, and take care with tools, irons, glass, kilns and other equipment.
  • We are not responsible for loss of or damage to your belongings unless it is caused by our negligence. Cars are parked at the owner’s risk.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
  • Otherwise, our liability to you is limited to the price you paid for the workshop.

8. Gift vouchers, privacy and changes

  • Gift vouchers can be used for workshops and the café, and are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. If you spend less than the voucher’s value, we’ll reissue the remaining balance as a new voucher valid until the original expiry date. Vouchers can’t be exchanged for cash.
  • Your details: we use the information you give when booking to manage your booking and contact you about it. See our privacy policy for more.
  • Changes to these terms: we may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you book is the one that applies to your booking.
  • Law: these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
