Acrylics – Bold, Fast & Loose!
July 21 – 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

We will spend a fun-filled half day immersed in the world of impasto acrylics! We will deconstruct and simplify objects and references, enabling us to capture them in acrylics using thickly laid passages of paint, either with a brush or a palette knife.
By the end of the morning, we will have developed confidence in applying acrylic paint thickly to the canvas, incorporating some on-canvas mixing and blending, without creating mud. We’ll get a bit messy, have loads of fun, kickstart a new painting habit (and technique), and enjoy cake from the café! What could be better? No previous experience is necessary; a no-excuse price with materials provided!
The morning will be filled with fast-paced learning exercises and mini-tutorials to entertain and help you make significant strides in your confidence and control in this interesting and freeing technique.
Impasto is a technique used in painting, where paint is laid on an area of the surface thickly, usually thick enough that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible. Paint can also be mixed right on the canvas. When dry, impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas. (Wikipedia)
