Workshop Overview
The art of Macramé is considered a simple craft to learn. During this Masterclass you will work on a few items to take home which will bring together the knots you will learn. There will be ample opportunity to work at your own pace, with a tutor on hand for any tricky tangles.
In this session, we will focus on learning the most common knots used across Macramé projects. From Square Knots and Larks Head Knots to Half Hitch Knots and Gathering Knots. You will get to know the difference between yarns; the tools required and will pick up some useful tips throughout the session to get you started on your own pieces.
The projects covered in this session are:
Twist bag charm – add to your keys or bag
Mini wall hanging – could hang indoors or in your car
Succulent pod creation – the perfect decoration or giftWe can guarantee you will leave with oodles of inspiration for your next make. The only challenge will be deciding which colour yarn and project is next. If you decide you want to learn more with us, we will running a festive decoration workshop on 1 December, which again will include all materials.
This session is very hands on, and you will be busy making keepsakes from the moment you arrive. It’s set to be an enjoyable morning in the company of other likeminded crafty individuals.
No previous experience is needed – absolute beginners are very welcome! You’ll leave with the confidence to try more Macramé projects and if you catch the bug, we have other craft kits and tutorials available to purchase in our Craft Barn gift shop.

Lucy from Hearts and Pearls is a self-taught Macrame artist based in Falmouth. Grown from a hobby, her business specialises in propagating rare trailing semi-succulent plants, including the popular String of Hearts and Pearls, and through this, she first explored making decorative plant hangers from Macrame yarn. Having experimented with various projects over the years, she now runs Macrame workshops in the local area. She designs tutorials for others to learn the basics of this historic art form.
