Master Crisp Points & Perfect Angles in Just 2.5 Hours!
Ever wondered how quilters achieve razor-sharp points and intricate geometric designs without the frustration of stretched fabric? The secret is Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP)—a game-changing technique where you sew directly onto printed paper foundations for guaranteed precision every single time.
Whether you’re brand new to quilting or looking to add a powerful new skill to your sewing toolkit, this relaxed, hands-on 2.5-hour workshop is the perfect place to start.
What You’ll Learn
- The FPP Fundamentals: How to read paper templates, line up your fabric, and sew by numbers.
- Troubleshooting Made Easy: Trimming, pressing, and tear-away techniques to leave you with clean, crisp quilt blocks.
- A Finished Project: You’ll complete a stunning paper-pieced block during class that you can turn into a coaster, mini wall hanging, or cushion panel!
Checklist: What to Bring
We supply all paper patterns, template cards, and expert guidance. Here is what you’ll need to bring along:
- Fabric: A selection of cotton fabric scraps or 3–4 contrasting Fat Quarters (brights, small prints, or solids work great!).
- Basic Sewing Kit:
- Fabric scissors and small thread snips.
- Fine sewing pins.
- A stitch ripper (just in case!).
- Pencil and pad for note taking
- Rotary Cutting Tools: A rotary cutter, quilting ruler and a cutting mat (if you have them; studio mats are available to share).
- Add-A-Quarter Ruler: Highly recommended for FPP! (Standard quilting rulers work too, and we’ll show you how to use them).
- Thread: A spool of neutral cotton thread (cream, grey, or taupe).
- Sewing Machine: Your working machine equipped with a standard piecing foot, power cord, foot pedal, and a new 80/12 universal needle. (Don’t have one? Let us know when booking to reserve a workshop machine).
