Confetti Trees – Print, Appliqué & Stitch Workshop with Trease Lane
April 8, 2027 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Make a beautiful woodland picture using printing, appliqué and stitch. You’ll use decolourant – a product that takes the colour out of fabric – to create your background. It’s like magic and very addictive, so bring plenty of fabric because once you start it’s hard to stop!
A lovely contrast to the Bee Garden day before – book both for two very different days of stitching.
This workshop is taught by visiting textile artist Trease Lane, who is travelling down from South Wales (she’s Cornish by birth!) to teach two days with us. Why not book both days?
The day
- 10am – 4pm in our sewing studio
- Maximum 12 places
- Suitable for beginners and more experienced stitchers
- Bring your own sewing machine, or hire one of our Janome machines for the day (limited availability – add machine hire when you book)
- Our café is open all day for lunch, coffee and cake
What to bring
- Fat quarter (or bigger if you want a longer picture) of background fabric – ice-dyed or commercial fabrics, fossil fern, batiks… bring several to experiment with
- Fat quarter of dark fabric for the appliqué trees (dark green in the sample)
- A scrap of organza or fabric of your choice for the path
- 1m Heat & Bond
- 1m fabric for the borders
- 1m felt or wadding (if using wadding, also bring a backing such as stitch & tear)
- Acrylic paint for painted leaves and trees
- Sewing machine and feet
- Cutting mat and ruler
- Greaseproof paper
- Threads of your choice
- Hair dryer
- Iron and ironing mat
Trease will bring: organza/batiks for the leaves, 8″ or 10″ embroidery hoops, paint trays and craft rollers. Water-soluble fabric (£2 per fat quarter) and decolourant (£2 per person) are available from Trease on the day.
